The Music

Below are a series of videos showcasing the Tom Belbin Trio in action. The videos include a range of songs taken from a standard Tom Belbin Trio set. There are also two clips featuring Becky Wolf on vocals.

Fly me to the moon

Fly Me to the Moon, originally titled “In Other Words”, is a song written in 1954 by Bart Howard. Kaye Ballard made the first recording of the song in 1954. Since then it has become a frequently recorded jazz standard often featured in popular culture; Frank Sinatra‘s 1964 version was closely associated with the Apollo missions to the Moon, and the Japanese animated series Neon Genesis Evangelion played the song (as covered by various artists) at the end of every episode.

Caravan is a composition by the great Duke Ellington, a phenomenal writer who had huge success with his big band. The band began in 1923, and lasted his entire career, which was over 50 years! This song recently found new fame in the hit film ‘Whiplash’, a music film based on the exploits of a drummer and his teacher. Thankfully, due to the chilled out nature of The Tom Belbin Trio, there will be no-one throwing cymbals at each other on this tune! However do expect energy and drive for the performance of this grooving classic. This tune is great for getting people dancing and background gigs alike, and has the presence that can create the perfect ambience for your event. Click here for booking details.

All The Things You Are

Above is a recording of the famous jazz standard ‘All The Things You Are’, Ft. The talented Becky Wolf. A famous swing tune written by Jerome Kern, this style of music was made famous in the swinging 20’s! Swing music is great for background gigs and up tempo dancing events alike. ‘All The Things You Are’ is a fantastic swinging tune that is bound to get everyone dancing, and tapping their feat. Swing is best for re-creating by-gone eras for themed parties, and for adding a touch of class to your event. Get in contact here to book The Tom Belbin Trio for your event today!

My Funny Valentine

Here we are lucky enough to be joined by the wonderful Becky Wolf again. Her beautiful vocals let this famous ballad soar and show the wide scoping range of the genre. This song is one of the most famous jazz ballads of all times, with stunning renditions performed by the likes of Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald and even Sting! This style of music is great for background gigs, and for slower moments of a set in which people would like to slow dance. Get in contact with The Tom Belbin trio to find out more on how we could tailor a set to suit your event, and what we would recommend to help make your day perfect.

Take Five

Take Five is a song that needs no introduction. This Paul Desmond composition is instantly recognisable by its grooving bass line and catchy melody. Another tune that is great for background music, and getting people up and dancing. You can expect many of these hits from the jazz era to be performed at your event.
